BOGNOR REGIS BOWLS TOURISTS
2011 BOURNEMOUTH TOUR
Firstly Gerry Mitchell and Wally Branford joined us for breakfast and pre-tour drinks at RAFA. It was a very good send off.
Next we introduce our latest Tourists George Dunham and Paul Chivers, and having played a couple of games on Tour we presented his tie to Ron Banthorpe our new coach driver who hopefully will join us again in 2012.
Match results went very well winning the first four games fairly easily, and only being squeezed out 94 to 98 at Christchurch B.C. However we were brought down to earth on easily the best green and better bowlers at Boscombe Cliff B.C.
All things considered it was a very successful Tour enjoyed by us all.
The hotel was great, several of us using the indoor pool before breakfast, and all of us using the bar after dinner. We were able to occupy two long tables that kept us isolated from other guests.
Barry Horsley won the Frank Buck Cup and Keith Davies the new Gerry Mitchell Shield for runner up, this kindly donated by President Tony Lindsey.
Whilst playing at Bournemouth Richmond Park B.C. for L.S.C. Rodney left behind his whites, our attempt to retrieve them failed as it was shut. The trousers were kindly posted off to Bognor and we reciprocated to this kindness with an accepted invite to join our Annual dinner.
This years’ tour was well organised by Secretary David Parker to whom we owe our thanks. He already has next years’ tour to Exmouth booked for 15th Sept 2012. Please note this date and join us as some choice bowling is in store, and make the next Tour as successful and happy as this has been.
