ALGARVE TOUR OCT 2012
Overall the tour was a great success. This year we played for two trophies, the "Regis Shield" against Pedras Lawn Bowls Club, and the new Cup sponsored by PREMIERFX, versus Valverde Bowls Club. Both were won, the shield convincingly and the Cup by a norrow margin.
We welcomed new Tourists John Reynolds, Jim and Pam Roots, John Edwards and Christine Preston, and Edna Keywood.
The additional players allowed us a rest some more senior players but the slightly depleted team only lost narrowly to Vilamoura Bowls Club, mostly due to a big shot loss on a notorios rink I with its reverse bias swing!
The match at Alvor was played off mats on a soft heavy green, and finally again resting some players at Tavira County Bowls Club resulted in shared rinks but overall losses. All were played in a good lighthearted atmosphere amoug now familiar Friends.
We helped Steve and Val celebrate their Ruby Wedding with a little soirée at Pedras, and Pauline her 90th Birthday at our party up at Jorges Restaurant where we were joined by Charlie McGowan, Peter Harris and their wives, from Pedras B.C. the evening was a great sucess.
We all enjoyed the hot sunny weather, some good bowling, much laughter and are probably overweight, but we will be back again next year to defend our trophies. Our thanks go to Norman and Ned for the organisation, and to our shirt sponsor PREMIERFX.
