Past President Alma Harrison 2009 - 2010
I hope you are all enjoying the season and playing plenty of bowls. It has been encouraging to see the new members joining in as much as they can and getting to know us all.
The Monday triples and Friday Overton are being well supported by a cross section of members.
The ladies are doing the same in the C&M league. Wishing them every success for their future matches.
Both sections are guided by their respective Captains, Ned Waddock and Beryl Charlesworth.
The club competitions are taking place with many a good tussle and some great results. This all leads up to the finals
On Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th September. Please keep these dates free as it is great to support your fellow members who have worked hard to reach the finals. Our two Competitions Secretaries Barbara Reardon and Peter Lillford work hard with the preparation for the competitions and the finals.
Trusting we will be blessed with beautiful weather as we have enjoyed this last six weeks.
As the season is moving on fast our thoughts turn to the autumn and the events that take place during these months.
The most important of these is the Club Dinner & Prize presentation to be held this year for the first time at the Football Club premises in Nyetimber Lane next to Arun Indoor Club. The date is 29th October 2010. There is plenty of room to park your car.
All menus are displayed on the club notice board which is in the entrance hall at Waterloo Square. Please put your name down and choose your menus in plenty of time.
There is always room for new members, Our Secretary Val Lillford would always be happy to hear from you.
Once again I must thank my Vice President Terry Rexstrew and all other officers of the club for their untiring work on our behalf.
A successful club is due to the dedication and loyalty of its members, all working together and accepting the decisions (which may be unpopular at times) made by the Officers of the club.
The County under 25’s played the Isle of Wight under 25’s at Waterloo Square on Sunday 9th May, members of the men’s committee dressed the rinks ready for them to play.
There are plenty of challenges for Bognor Regis members this season. Lots of different opportunities to play great bowls. Keep looking at the boards in dressing rooms to put your names down for matches.
No names, no games!
I look forward to seeing you all at sometime during the summer months.
Bognor Regis Bowls Club was formed in 1923 and is a mixed ladies and men's club. This was formed with the amalgamation of the BRBC (men) and Bognor Regis Women's Bowls Club in the late 1994.
The green is situated in Waterloo Square (near the pier) at Bognor Regis. The greens are owned and maintained by Inspire Leisure.
We are not in the privileged position to have our own club room but we do have a thriving and friendly club. This consists of forty nine men which include two life members. The ladies have nineteen playing members with four life members but would welcome more playing ladies.
The men play league and friendly matches as do the ladies. Also the club have 'mixed' friendly matches against other clubs. These are still competitive but 'friendly'.
Our social gatherings are held at premises near by the green. These are held during the season and in winter months.
Why not come and join us.
WISHING YOU ALL GREAT BOWLING
Alma Harrison
President Bognor Regis Bowls Club
