RIU HOTEL BELPLAYER 4*
10 OCT - 24 OCT ALL INCLUSIVE BOWLING HOLIDAY
Costa Del Sol! Here we are and having a great time, Weather has been incredible, we are all getting really browned off! Tiring days on the sun loungers around the pool with the occasional liquid refreshments? Well it is all inclusive!
After a busy Summer's Bowling helping out with various bowling duties with our bowls clubs it was time for a well deserved break and with the help of Gala Leisure and a few friends from previous holidays we headed of to the Hotel RUI Belplayer 4* For a 2 week All Inclusive Bowling Holiday.
A nice early flight with no delays and what a nice greeting from our arranged transfers so simple we arrived at the Hotel for a welcome drink, our rooms allocated and then of for lunch, going very well we all thought as we descended onto the loungers for a good old soak up of sun and liquid refreshments. A nice 3 course evening meal with something for everyone and not a lot left on the plates which is a good sign, then of to the varander or the lounge for drinks and entertainment.
Next morning bowling, the green situated between the Belplayer and Costa Lago Hotels had been booked for us from 9.30 until 1.30 and of we go for a friendly mixed round robin game, the green took a bit of finding but don't they all, we manage to start at 10 after a good breakfast and had a good morning of bowls finishing at 1.00 and then of for some drinks before lunch and a afternoon of sun & drinks around the pool.
Gala had arranged for us to play against the local Belplayer Bowls Club, they are all friendly ex pats and always start of f the afternoon with a spider, prizes for the winners closest to the jack was a litre of Brandy, a 2 Euro coin was placed on the jack and nearest to that also won the coin, after the first match which was a good game but unfortunately we lost by 13 shots, two rink's won, one rink drew and a heavy loss on our last rink but a nice friendly afternoon was had by all.
Second match we won on 2 rinks and lost on 2 by only 4 shots overall, so decided to have a final match seeing the gap was narrowing, but also lost that by 15 shots, much to the delight of their Captain Charles known as Prince! A good 3 matches with the Belplayer Bowls Club nice friendly ex pats who do enjoy a game of bowls.
In between match time was spent bowling with who ever fancied bowling. We had roll ups as and when required with some people playing in the morning and others preferring late afternoons. playing round robins in the glorious sun, a few of us ventured of on excursions on buses, trains, and cable cars! The local trains cannot be faulted for punctuality, cleanliness, cost and ease of travelling.
Our excursion on the cable car was high in the mountains above Benalmadena to see a Falconry display. The scenery and birds were awesome. Worth every Euro. Others went to the Aquarium some of to Marina and the Delfinarum, quite a lot to do if you can get yourself of the lilo and away from the bar.
We had heard about another club touring in the next Hotel, Costa Lago and decided to challenge them, they in fact were 10 different bowling clubs on tour together from Sheffield, great we thought, a mixed 4 rink match was arranged but sadly after a great battle on the green we were once again the losing side by 5 shots overall this time, but did have a good afternoons bowling.
During our stay we have celebrated two birthdays which have given us and other diners, one being a great group of golfers from Holland, much amusement at dinner time with much champagne, singing and silly presents being given.
We have all had a great time and have discussed going back again. We are all very pleased with the way Gala have arranged our holiday, transfers, Hotel, the staff and the bowling green, and its locality with it being so close to the sea and town to keep us occupied.
